Drift Privacy Policy
Drift Privacy Policy
Effective date: [17 Sept 2026] Last updated: [17 Sept 2026]
This Privacy Policy explains how [Legal entity name, e.g. Growlift] ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Drift mobile app, website, and related services (together, "Drift").
Drift is an after-work relaxation app offering calm music, audio stories, wind-down routines, mood check-ins, personalized recommendations, and private social "Circles".
If you have questions, contact us at [hello@growlift.in].
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Account details: display name, username (handle), email address, and an optional profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a unique account identifier and, where you allow it, your name and email from that provider.
- Preferences from onboarding and settings: your chosen moods, interests, preferred wind-down time window and days, language, theme, and accessibility settings (such as reduced motion).
- Mood check-ins: optional ratings of how you feel before or after a listening session. These are always optional and skippable.
- Content you create: reflections and "now playing" posts, comments, appreciations, Circles you create or join, routines, and saved or liked items.
- Reports and appeals: information you submit when you report content, block or mute someone, or appeal a moderation decision.
- Support messages: anything you send us when you contact support.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Listening activity: what you play, playback position (so you can resume), listening history, session length, downloads, and sleep timer usage.
- Recommendation signals: items shown to you, and your feedback such as "more like this", "less like this", or "not tonight".
- Device information: device platform (Android, iOS, or web), app version, and a push notification token if you enable notifications.
- App usage and diagnostics: in-app events (for example, screens viewed and features used), crash logs, and performance data. Usage analytics are collected only with your consent where required by law.
- Technical and security data: IP address, request timestamps, and security logs, used to keep the service safe and prevent abuse.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos (other than a profile picture you choose to upload), microphone audio, or advertising identifiers for ads.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Sign-in providers (Google, Apple), as described above.
- Payment platforms (Google Play Billing, Apple App Store, Stripe) tell us your subscription status, plan, renewal, and cancellation. We never receive or store your full card or bank details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide Drift: create and secure your account, stream and download audio, remember your playback position, and sync your library across devices.
- Personalize your experience: build your "Tonight" recommendations and explain why each item was suggested. You can turn personalization off in Settings at any time; Drift will keep working with non-personalized, curated content.
- Run AI features: generate calm content such as stories or reflections. All AI-generated content passes a safety check before it is shown, and AI-generated assets are labelled.
- Keep the community positive and safe: screen posts and comments with automated tools and human review, handle reports, and enforce our Community Guidelines.
- Send notifications you opt into: such as gentle wind-down reminders, which respect your quiet hours and can be turned off anytime.
- Manage subscriptions: verify purchases, grant premium access, and handle renewals and cancellations.
- Measure and improve wellbeing outcomes: understand, in aggregate, whether Drift helps people feel calmer, and make sure new features do not make people feel worse.
- Maintain security and comply with law: prevent fraud and abuse, fix bugs, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
3. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) or the EU/UK GDPR apply, we process your data based on:
- Your consent (for example, optional analytics, notifications, mood check-ins, and personalization). You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of our contract with you (providing the service you signed up for).
- Legitimate uses or interests (security, fraud prevention, and service improvement), balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We share personal data only as follows:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, including:
- Cloudflare (hosting, database, file storage, content delivery, and edge computing)
- Google and Apple (sign-in, in-app purchases, push notifications)
- Stripe (web payments)
- [AI model provider, e.g. Cloudflare Workers AI / Anthropic / OpenAI] (AI features)
- [Email delivery provider] (sign-in codes and account emails)
- [Crash reporting / analytics provider, if any]
- Other Drift users, limited to what you choose to share. Your display name, handle, profile photo, and posts are visible to members of Circles you join. Drift does not show public follower counts or public appreciation counts.
- Creators and artists receive only aggregated, non-identifying statistics (for example, total plays or completion rates).
- Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Drift.
- Business transfers: if Drift is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
5. Data retention
- We keep your account data for as long as your account is active.
- When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, including profile, preferences, listening history, mood check-ins, recommendation data, uploaded files, and posts, within [30] days. Residual copies in backups are purged within [90] days.
- We may retain limited records longer where required by law (for example, billing records for tax purposes) or to resolve disputes and enforce our terms (for example, records of serious safety violations).
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access and export your data. Use Settings → Privacy → Export my data, and we will email you a download link.
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile or settings.

- Nominate another person to exercise your rights (DPDP Act).
- Complain to a data protection authority, such as the Data Protection Board of India or your local regulator.

7. Children
Drift is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage for offline downloads, short-lived access tokens, and access controls. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a data breach as required by law.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including through Cloudflare's global network. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Wellbeing notice
Drift is designed for relaxation and is not a medical or mental health service. Mood check-ins are used only to personalize content and measure, in aggregate, whether Drift helps. If you are in distress, please contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
